From the above picture, we can find that there is copper coated inner the hole which is named as via hole. Via holes are responsible for connecting conductor line on different layers.
GT can produce via holes in the minimum diameter of 1.0mm. How to let liquid copper flow into such small holes and plated equally on the via wall is a technological difficulty. GT follows the IPC class 2 standard to get cu in hole wall at least 18um. Meanwhile, GT uses the following 3 methods to guarantee the quality of via holes.
-- Ensure adequate plating time to get moderate thick cu in hole.
-- With pure cooper ball to avoid copper blistering in holes.
-- Using penetrating copper solution to prevent “dog bone phenomenon”
With above methods, via holes will perform well in signal transmission.
